Mental health conditions account for 16% of the global burden of disease and injury in people aged 10-19 years. Globally, depression is one of the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. Suicide is the third leading cause of death in 15-19-year-olds.
This inspired me to dedicate the next two episodes to Child & Adolescent Mental Health with Dr. Kaushik Roy who specializes in child & adolescent psychiatry. He sees patients from the age group of 5- 25 years. He is associated with St. Lukes University Hospital in Pennsylvania teaching fellow residents, medical students, mentoring psychotherapists & advanced practitioners. He also collaborates with other disciplines of medicine.
